Dasher users: You can find help in the Help menu. Dasher has a built-in help system that can answer most any question you have. Additionally, you have access to HELP --> 'Ask A Question' to have your question answered by the online help staff.
BlitzIn users: You can find help in the Help menu. Additionally, you have access to HELP --> 'Ask A Question' to have your question answered by the online help staff. You can also check out the ICC Guide, which covers the basics like starting and playing a game.
ICC for Mac users: Go to Live Help in the CHAT ROOMS section and ask your question. To report a bug, visit the Help menu.
Additional help: If you're using other chess software to connect, or need additional help, you can ask a question on the chess server by going to the chat area and typing: /tell 1
Advanced help
Most common actions taken by ICC members are simply a matter of clicking a link or button on the software. In the server help files, you can browse through all the possible commands. Some basic commands that can be typed:
- seeking looks for a game.
- say tells something to your opponent
- tell tells something to a specific player
- finger displays information about a player
- history lists your recent games
- observe allows you to watch games in progress ('observe *' to see the highest-rated game)
- follow follows around a player, watching his every game ('follow *' to follow the highest-rated)
- examine allows you to play over (post-mortem) games
- message leaves a message for a player who is not online, or lists your received messages.

BlitzIn is a Windows program that shows you a chess board and lets you connect and play on the ICC. BlitzIn was the main Windows interface for ICC before Dasher and is still popular with many long-time members, especially those who prefer a command-line interface and are prepared to spend the time necessary to learn it. Unless you are already familiar with BlitzIn and prefer it, we highly recommend that you start with Dasher instead, which is easier for most new members to learn.

- Download the BlitzIn 3.12 installer. If you have problems with the new version, download BlitzIn 3.11 or older version here.
- Run the downloaded file. This will install BlitzIn on your computer.
- Connect to the Internet and run BlitzIn. The BlitzIn icon is the ICC logo.
- If you have not registered on the ICC, you can click the link by 'Get a FREE trial of ICC!' to create an account. Otherwise, enter your ICC name and password, click the 'Sign In' button.

Language Pack for BlitzIn 3.09
BlitzIn 3.09 has been translated into Spanish, French, German, Russian, Portuguese, and Dutch. To use any of these languages, first download and run the BlitzIn 3.03 installer above. Then:
Download the Language Pack Updated December 08, 2012
and install it. Then you can switch the language by selecting 'Choose Language...' from the Options menu. The language pack will only work with 3.03, not with any previous versions of BlitzIn.
